What this tool does
Resize HEIC changes a photo's pixel dimensions: scale it to a percentage between 10 and 200, or type an exact width, height or both. The result is saved as JPG (the default), WebP or PNG, because the browser cannot write a resized HEIC. Use this tool when the number of pixels is the requirement, for example a profile photo that must be 800 by 800 or a listing image that must be 1200 pixels wide. If your only goal is a smaller file, the compressor is the quicker route.
The two modes behave differently on purpose. In percentage mode both sides scale by the same factor, so the shape is kept. In exact mode, typing only a width or only a height keeps the aspect ratio and works out the other side. Typing both uses your numbers as given: a 4032 by 3024 photo set to 1000 by 1000 comes out 1000 by 1000, stretched, not cropped. There is no crop and no letterbox, so if a form demands a square or other fixed shape, crop first.
Batches are supported, up to 50 files, and each photo is resized separately. With a shared width, portraits and landscapes keep their own heights. As in the compressor, Display P3 photos are converted to sRGB by default, with a "Keep wide colour" switch for JPG and PNG. Zero, negative or non-numeric sizes are refused, and the Resize button stays disabled until at least one valid dimension is entered.
How to use it
- 01
Add one or more HEIC files
Up to 50 can go in one run. They are all resized with the same settings.
- 02
Choose Percentage or Exact dimensions
Percentage gives a slider from 10 to 200 in steps of 5, starting at 50. Exact dimensions shows Width and Height boxes.
- 03
Enter the size
Fill one box to keep the proportions, or both to force an exact size. A negative or zero value keeps the Resize button disabled.
- 04
Pick the format and quality
JPG starts at quality 90. WebP and JPG use the slider (30 to 100); PNG ignores it.
- 05
Resize and check the result
Each result row shows the original size, the new file size and the new pixel dimensions, for example 4032×3024 becoming 2016×1512 at 50 percent.
- 06
Download
Take files individually or as heic-resized.zip. Cancel stops a batch in progress.
When to use it
A portal that specifies pixel dimensions
Visa, passport and job-application uploads often specify a width and height or a minimum size. Enter both values, and check the aspect ratio first, since this tool will stretch rather than crop.
Thumbnails and listing images
Set a width of 1200 across a batch and every photo comes out 1200 pixels wide with its own height, a uniform column for a shop or listing page.
Shrinking before a size-limited upload
Resizing to 50 percent cuts the pixel count to a quarter. If the file is still over a limit, run it through HEIC to Target Size afterwards.
Enlarging for a screen or template
The percentage slider goes to 200, and exact mode accepts larger sizes, for example to fill a template that rejects small images.
Good to know
- 01Upscaling invents no detail. A photo enlarged to 200 percent is the same picture with softer edges, not a sharper one.
- 02Entering both width and height can distort the photo, and there is no crop or fit option. Leave one box empty when you want the proportions kept.
- 03The output is JPG, WebP or PNG, never HEIC. The HEIC encoder in the browser has no quality setting to pair with resizing, so a resized HEIC cannot be produced.
- 04EXIF, GPS and XMP are not carried into the resized copy. If you need a HEIC with the location removed, use Remove GPS from HEIC instead; it does not change the dimensions.
- 05On iPhone and iPad, Safari caps canvas output at about 16.7 megapixels. A larger resize, or a larger source, is scaled down and a warning shows. Exact sizes above the cap are not possible there.
Technical notes
Privacy and limits
Your file stays on your device
This tool runs in your browser with WebAssembly. The file is read into the tab, processed there and discarded when you close it — there is no upload and no account. You can check this yourself in your browser's network panel, and the privacy page lists what analytics does and does not receive.
Limits and checks
Up to 100 MB and 100 megapixels per file; batches of up to 50 files and 500 MB. Files are treated as untrusted input and every output is re-opened and validated before it is offered — see how we handle untrusted files.
